Toronto Motor Car Limited / Sorenson Motors

Toronto Motor Car Limited opened in 1931 as a Pontiac dealership.  Along with Yonge-Eglinton Motors, both dealerships switched to selling Ford products. Dan and Don Sorenson owned both of the dealerships.

In February 1939, Toronto Motor Car Limited became an official Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership. When O'Donnell-Mackie quit selling Lincolns, there was no other retailer to buy Lincoln products until Toronto Motor Cars stepped in.

In 1955, Toronto Motor Car Limited switched to selling Chrysler products.

In 1964, Sorenson Chrylser opened a location in the former Cedarvale Motors location.

By 1970, Sorenson renamed themselves as Sorenson Chrysler and moved to Agincourt in eastern Toronto. Agincourt was seeing major investment and many dealerships opened in the area. In 1970, Sorenson Chrysler opened.

In the late 80s/early 90s, both locations closed down.

  1. Hi There. I stumbled across this blog article. I am doing research on the Toronto Motor Car Company. This info is very helpful. Looking for sources of the two images above, the one showing the service center building at Lombard and Church and the 2nd one - the 43rd anniversary. I've checked the historical G&M and Toronto Star and no luck. These look this may have appeared in a trade magazine? Much appreciated if you could point me in the right direction. Thank you.
