Riverdale Garage ~ Riverdale Mercury ~ Dominion Riverdale Limited

Riverdale Garage was one of Toronto's oldest Ford dealerships. Established by Joseph Hearn & J. C. Nicholson, they were awarded the Ford franchise in 1917.

Previously located on Hamilton St, Riverdale moved to their new location on Danforth in 1922.

After WW2, Riverdale Garage was back in business as a new car dealership and it became a Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealership in 1946.

In 1953, Riverdale Garage opened a new truck centre dedicated to selling only Mercury trucks. Riverdale Garage was 1 of 2 exclusive Mercury truck dealers in Canada.

In 1960, Riverdale was bought out by the Dominion Ford dealership group and Riverdale became Dominion-Riverdale. Don Seaton was the president.

By 1970, Riverdale Mercury closed its doors and moved further east to Scarborough. Don Seaton took over Allan&Stacey Mercury Sales and merged the two dealerships to create Birchdale Mercury Sales.
